Samsung Display Opens New Markets with OLED Screens

Samsung Display, the leader of the OLED display market in smartphones, is preparing to enter the computer and automotive industry. The goal of Samsung Display is to become the market judge in both of these areas.

The Samsung Display recently signaled that it would focus on the market by introducing the world’s first 15.6-inch UHD OLED display for laptops. The company, which attracts attention with its OLED display offering extremely high resolution and outstanding contrast, will also soon enter the automotive market.

New screen, which displays black colors 200 times darker and 2 times brighter white colors compared to conventional LCD screens it also attracts attention with its range of colors. Huge companies in the industry are expected to compete in producing laptops using OLED displays manufactured by Samsung Display. Samsung has not yet announced what computer manufacturers will work with for new OLED displays.

Samsung Display, which produces 5.7-inch rear-seat control panels for Audi in 2017, will return to the automotive market with the e-tron electric car that will be launched by Audi this year. The company has produced a 7-inch virtual exterior mirror for the e-tron, OLED displays. The widespread use of virtual mirrors, which we have seen recently, can help Samsung to make a name for itself in this sector.

Samsung Display will not only produce virtual mirrors for the automotive market. Earlier this month, the company produced a 12.3 inch OLED dashboard with Harman, showing speed and fuel indicators, music and navigation information.

In the reports published by IHS Markit, the market share of Samsung Display in the mobile OLED segment was announced as 92%. The OLED market, which has a volume of 22 billion dollars in 2018, is expected to have a volume of 35.2 billion dollars in 2023.
